In the world of tech startups, the number of women in leadership roles is still very low. While women make up 59% of the total workforce, they are only 30% of the workforce across major tech companies, and only 20% when it comes to tech jobs. Only 17% of tech startups have at least one female founder and the percentage of venture capital funding going to startups with at least one woman founder has stayed around 10% since 2016 and 2.2% going to all-female founding teams.
However, a growing number of women are successfully breaking through barriers to bring innovative ideas to the tech industry. One example is Vera Futorjanski, Director of Innovation at 500 Startups. Before joining the leading worldwide seed accelerator, Vera was serving as Head of Global Communications at the Dubai Future Foundation and she was also a founding team member of Dubai Future Accelerators. Vera also worked with Rocket Internet in different roles and she was the founder of Vaniday in the UAE.
During the session, Vera will share her experience as a leading female entrepreneur and her advice to success.
